Great Music with a Cause!
Girl Cologne are a band are creating great music and delivering their intense alternative music with a cause. The four piece band from Cleveland deliver music and a message for youth finding their way in life and overocoming the unique challenges life presents. Lead by front person Jenna Seeman on vocals and keyboards, she is backed by her band mates Em Kmiecik on bass, Parker Disalvo on drums and Cade cubbison on guitar. they emerged in 2021 out of the pandemic and have just released their debut album Say Hello in September, an amazing 10 song LP that will hook you fast with it’s 90’s alt rock vibe.
“We are a femme fronted queer alt rock group from Cleveland! We’re also advocates for chronic illness and disability as I have chronic migraines and POTS, said Jenna. I think the world needs to know that we value the causes we stand for, and we will never not be vocal about what we believe in. For us, it’ll always be about respresenting and advocating for those who are continuously silenced. As we continue to grow as a band, we want to be even MORE vocal about these issues, and never want it to be a matter of forgetting where we started and what we wanted to do in the first place.”
“We all met at different times throughout high school and School of Rock, and we each had different music projects that fizzled out due to college and the pandemic. Like other artists, we were looking for a musical outlet and the pieces just came together. I was writing so much music at that time and I just wanted some people to play it with!”
Speaking of influences of the band, Jenna said, “Personally, Miley Cyrus is a huge one. From Hannah Montana to Bangers to Plastic Hearts she just does what she wants to do and her voice truly is something else. Band wise, for sure Green Day, Incubus, Nirvana, No Doubt!”
Say Hello is the debut album from Girl Cologne and making waves with it’s excellent music and content. The music is something that will capture your soul with its’ intense sound and Seeman’s amazing vocals. You can feel the energy and the emotion driven through the songs with it’s vibrant and energetic sound. “Our first album is a collection of my high school into early adulthood feelings. I feel like it perfectly captures that time when your only responsibility is figuring out who you are. I think coupled with our 90s sound, it can give a real sense of nostalgia. Our message overall is to just be yourself, and express yourself. It’s okay to have emotions.”
Speaking of the new album released on September 6th Jenna said, “We ended up just waterfalling each single this time, so it’ll fully be up then. This album is quite naive in nature. It almost was my way of not dealing with what was happening in the world by focusing on every tiny little problem in my life. I wrote these songs like 4 years ago now, and the things I was writing about feel quite insignificant to me, but the emotion I feel when I sing them is just as strong.”
“Lyrically, everything I write comes quite spontaneously. I find myself subconsciously writing about situations I’m currently experiencing in life. Other times I like to pick certain things to write about, like movies and books.”
Chronic Illness is one of the biggest obstacles Jenna has faced but is going to push the limits and rebel from within. “Chronic illness is the thing that comes to mind, but obviously you don’t necessarily overcome that in the typical sense of the word. The biggest obstacle to overcome was understanding the root of these issues through a lot of trial and error. I know my limits now pretty well, and how my body is going to react when I feel a certain way. I’m still working on pushing myself too hard because I’m quite stubborn haha.”
Girl Cologne is a band you must here and experience. They are going to rock your world and inspire you to join their cause and more. You need to see the band live and get their new ablum Say Hello. It is available from their web site and on Apple Music and other music sites. Perfect gift for Christmas because what gift than giving someone great new music and Girl Cologne is just the band with the gift of great music!

Hey Bill! Thanks so much!
1. What does the world need to know about Girl Cologne? The band?
We are a femme fronted queer alt rock group from Cleveland! We’re also advocates for chronic illness and disability as I have chronic migraines and POTS. I think the world needs to know that we value the causes we stand for, and we will never not be vocal about what we believe in. For us, it’ll always be about respresenting and advocating for those who are continuously silenced. As we continue to grow as a band, we want to be even MORE vocal about these issues, and never want it to be a matter of forgetting where we started and what we wanted to do in the first place.
2. What inspired the band to form? What motivated you?
We all met at different times throughout high school and School of Rock, and we each had different music projects that fizzled out due to college and the pandemic. Like other artists, we were looking for a musical outlet and the pieces just came together. I was writing so much music at that time and I just wanted some people to play it with!
3. You write music for disillusioned young people? What is this all about and what is your message?
Our first album is a collection of my high school into early adulthood feelings. I feel like it perfectly captures that time when your only responsibility is figuring out who you are. I think coupled with our 90s sound, it can give a real sense of nostalgia. Our message overall is to just be yourself, and express yourself. It’s okay to have emotions.
4. What obstacles have you faced and overcame?
Chronic illness is the thing that comes to mind, but obviously you don’t necessarily overcome that in the typical sense of the word. The biggest obstacle to overcome was understanding the root of these issues through a lot of trial and error. I know my limits now pretty well, and how my body is going to react when I feel a certain way. I’m still working on pushing myself too hard because I’m quite stubborn haha.
5. What inspires your music?
Lyrically, everything I write comes quite spontaneously. I find myself subconsciously writing about situations I’m currently experiencing in life. Other times I like to pick certain things to write about, like movies and books.
6. You have a couple of singles released? What are these about and what inspired the songs?
So we actually will have our first full album out on Sept 6th! We ended up just waterfalling each single this time, so it’ll fully be up then. This album is quite naive in nature. It almost was my way of not dealing with what was happening in the world by focusing on every tiny little problem in my life. I wrote these songs like 4 years ago now, and the things I was writing about feel quite insignificant to me, but the emotion I feel when I sing them is just as strong.
7. What do you have in the works now and for the remainder of the year?
We have a music video coming out along with our album! It was really fun to work on and I’m super proud of the finish product. As for the rest of the year, we’re gonna just be playing shows and working on the next album.
8. What are your biggest influences? Musically? and otherwise?
Personally, Miley Cyrus is a huge one. From Hannah Montana to Bangers to Plastic Hearts she just does what she wants to do and her voice truly is something else. Band wise, for sure Green Day, Incubus, Nirvana, No Doubt!
9. What do you hope to achieve in the future?
The thing that gives me the most joy is connecting with people, and the feeling I get when they care about our art is unmatched.
Being on stage gives a feeling like no other and I just wanna keep doing that, in one way or another.
10. Your comments about the local music scene and the Porch Rock festival?
This year was our first PorchRokr! We had an absolute blast. I love community events like this, and I wish I knew about it sooner because I would’ve been attending every year. I love seeing the local scene regrow and flourish it’s so amazing.
11. How can people find you and your music?
We are @girlcologne on Instagram! We’re also on Facebook. You can find links to our music on both of those, or just search “girl cologne” wherever you listen. If you’re on TikTok we’re there as well @girl.cologne
12. Any additional comments about your mission in music and beyond?
We came together as a group because we love music and are passionate about social causes. This is the core of our band and we want it to remain this way as we continue to grow!
Thank you again, let me know if you need anything else!!

Girl Cologne is a four-piece band that makes music for the disillusioned young person navigating situations that, for many, define young adulthood. Members Jenna Seeman (she/her; vocals/keyboard), Cade Cubbison (he/him; guitar), Parker Disalvo (he/him; drums), and Em Kmiecik (they/them; bass) met in school in Cleveland, Ohio. Desperate for an outlet to channel the restlessness inherent to adolescence and unable to remember the word “perfume”, Girl Cologne was born.
The band’s sound is uniquely modern while rooted in classic influences; Girl Cologne harnesses the turbulent energy of youth and sweetens it with a dash of 90’s nostalgia to create a sound that is equal parts impassioned and sophisticated.
Girl Cologne’s debut single “Let Me Know”, produced by Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank, Fiona Apple), is out now with Tragic Hero Records.
